Castle Grounds Concerts FAQ

Can I bring something to sit on?
Yes. No seats are provided so please feel free to bring a foldable picnic chair or blanket to sit on, but please be aware, the audience may choose to stand throughout the event in any part of the arena. You cannot claim a spot with blankets and chairs and leave it unattended. Seating is in the open air on variable ground conditions so please ensure you bring appropriate provision for your needs. Tents, gazebos, awnings, hammocks, tables or canopies or any item which could obscure other visitor’s views are not permitted.

Can we bring a picnic in?
Yes - please do not bring any glass.

Can we bring drinks in?
Yes, you can bring in drinks but plastic bottles and cups only. No glass. As these are family-friendly concerts you are welcome to bring a moderate amount of alcohol with you, which we have defined as four cans of beer or cider, or 75cl of wine (in a bag or plastic bottle as no glass is permitted) or four cans of combined spirit and mixer per adult. Please do not bring any excess alcohol to the site as you will be asked to dispose of it before entering or could be refused admission.

Please note that glass of any kind is not allowed, including bottles of wine and beer. If you are bringing a bottle of wine, please decant this into a plastic container. All drinks must be in plastic or cans and please use plastic to drink from as opposed to glass.

Is there any food or drink available to buy on site?
Yes, there will be a variety of food and drink vendors at the event. 

Is there an age limit?
No age limit, but any child/youth ticket has to be accompanied by a full paying adult at any of our ticketed events.

Can I buy a ticket ‘on the door?’
Yes. Tickets are available to buy ‘on the door’ at the Castle Gate House. (Enter the Castle Grounds via the entrance near Nationwide Bank, Market Street Tamworth.) Tickets are also available at Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts and Events Box Office at the Assembly Rooms, Corporation Street until 4pm. DOOR SALES AVAILABLE UNTIL ONE HOUR AFTER PERFORMANCE STARTS. ENTRY AFTER THAT WILL BE WITH PRE-PURCHASED TICKETS ONLY. Remember, children nine and under go free to the following three concerts: Royal Philharmonic, Jack Savoretti & The Best of the 80s - but will still need a ticket. Children aged under 2 go free to the Absolute Reggae & Complete Madness gig and our outdoor cinema showings of Encanto and Coco but will still need a ticket. 

Is there a golden circle?
No

Can you buy VIP badges to go back stage and meet the performers?
No

Are there free disabled or carers tickets?
A carer can go free to accompany a disabled guest, entry tickets must still be booked. Please phone our box office 01827 709618 to book.

Is there a disabled viewing area?
Yes, there is an accessible viewing platform next to the front of house booth.

Can people bring dogs in? 
No. Guide dogs only within the arena. N.B. Dogs are permitted within the arena to our Community Have A Go Day and Commonwealth Games screenings but must be kept on a lead at all times.

Is there a lost and found station protocol for children?
Yes

Parking
Parking is free from 6pm at all Tamworth Borough Council car parks. There are plenty located throughout the town centre and near the Castle Grounds. Please note that this does not apply to the car park operated by NCP on the site of the former Gungate Precinct. All council-run cark parks can be viewed on a map here: www.tamworth.gov.uk/car-parks. Please note that Riverdrive car park is currently closed. Ankerside Shopping Centre car park is next to the grounds and Tamworth Football Club car park will also be available for event parking. You can pre-book parking at the football ground for the Jack Savoretti concert. You can pre-book parking at the football ground for Best of the 80s. Tamworth Railway station and the bus depot are both within short walking distance of the Castle Grounds. 

Are there any hotels or camping nearby?
There are several hotels within walking distance of Tamworth Castle Grounds. You can find further details of all local accommocation here: www.visittamworth.co.uk/stay

Which items cannot be brought into the Castle Grounds?
For the safety of our staff and our visitors, there are certain other items which are not allowed in the arena.

The most common prohibited items to be aware of are:

• Gazebos and awnings
• Tables or hammocks
• Glass of any kind including bottles and jars
• Knives – remember to pre-cut your picnic foods
• Barbeques, lanterns and candles
• Corkscrews/Bottle openers
